About the Leather

Goat leather is naturally water resistant and we treat every pair before it leaves us. But leather is a material, not a plastic membrane. Its water resistance is condition dependent and it wears down with use. A wet spring afternoon, heavy sleet, or a lot of hours on snow will use it up faster than cold dry powder does.
The tell is simple: when water stops beading on the surface, it is time to re-wax. Most people do it once around midseason, and again before they put the gloves away for the summer.
That is normal for leather, and it is why these last years rather than seasons.
